Prezi - http://www.prezi.com

Prezi is an application which makes it possible to design presentations online. It’s a flash based application that changes how you can create presentations. It means that you don’t need to worry about creating individual slides, you can create non-linear presentations and then you can zoom in and out of a map containing all of your information. You are able to add all your ideas first then at the end you can put them in order, not by moving them, but by linking them.  It’s difficult to explain how to use it, but it’s not difficult to use. The best way to learn how to use the software is to just do it, play with the system yourself. Prezi is different and so it does take some getting used to, but after a bit of practice you will find that the user interface is quite intuitive. There are also plenty of help videos which will help you to create presentations for the first time.

Another great thing about prezi is that you can download it and it come into a package so you don't have to rely on the Internet to have your presentation.  Unlike some presentation devices online this one works offline as well.  But NOTE:  many people are using this online tool now and it's next to impossible to save (takes a long time) on a Monday and a Friday.  So choose your time wisely.

The application is designed entirely in flash and it’s a real pleasure to use. It’s quick and snappy although it can take some getting used to. This isn’t because the interface is bad, it’s actually because the concept is completely different. The tool is designed very well and has a nice interface; it just takes some time for people to get used to the idea of a presentation without having to create individual slides. It’s certainly worth it though because you get a much more engaging and interesting presentation for your students than you would otherwise.

Students love to use this system because it moves, inside and out.  Let them play with it for a while.  Here are instructions you can give your students before you start.  When done, students can email you the PUBLISHed web address so you can correct it online.  But they have to make their site public for you to mark it.

Finally, this tool is free but there is an educational section to it to log in so you can get more space.  You need to enter a web site and have an educational email.  But registering doesn't take long and it really is fun.  Try it.
